Yes it is supposedly a trope by itself, if you had not known earlier. They fall in love with each other, but they must stay six feet apart in order not to jeopardize each other’s health, which feels like punishment to them both. Now after finishing the book i can’t stop thinking about it. Though the book is essentially a romance, larger issues of how serious illnesses affect families and the different ways patients deal with cf are important parts of the story.

Two people hate each other and slowly fall for one another somewhere between point a and… wherever they end up. Will not only has cf but he also has an infection in his lungs called b. They act and talk like teenagers and i loved how genuine and natural the whole plot felt. I was enthralled form day 1, i finished the book in two days and honestly it made me cry a few times and by the end i couldn’t help but cry. The movie does not take on that point.
